Nintendo itself has released very few technical specifics regarding the Wii console. The known details include:

- CPU: PowerPC based processor codenamed "Broadway", made with a 90 nm SOI CMOS process. Clocked at 729 Mhz.
- GPU: 243 Mhz ATI "Hollywood" GPU made with a 90 nm CMOS process. 3MBs texture memory on board.

- 24MBs "main" 1T-SRAM
- 64MBs other GDDR3
- 3MBs texture memory on GPU

- 512 MB internal flash memory.
- Expansion available via SD card memory. Up to 2GB supported.
- Gamecube Memory Cards (for saving GCN games only).
- Slot-loading disc drive compatible with:
- 8 cm GameCube Optical Disc.
- 12 cm Wii Optical Disc.
- DVD-movie addon coming 2007 (Japan only)
- Mask ROM by Macronix.

[edit] Supported Content Rating Organisations
The Wii has a built-in content rating system, which is used by official Wii software, plus Virtual Console and WiiWare titles. This is mainly for the parental controls software available in all official versions of the Wii firmware. The supported rating organisations are CERO, PEGI, and the ESRB.

- Up to 480p[48](NTSC) or 576i 50hz\480i 60hz and 480p (PAL/SECAM) , will work with any TV or projector
- Component (including Progressive scan), S-Video, D-Terminal, RGB SCART, or composite output, depending on the used cabling, Composite cables are the packin.
- 16:9 anamorphic widescreen support.
Note: GameCube/N64/Snes cables are physically incompatible with the console.
Note: It appears, that NTSC and PAL, as also the RGB / S-Video wiring is software controlled (Imported NTSC-Games on a PAL-Console run in NTSC video format).
